Introduction:
The gaming industry has grown over the last few years and avid gamers have moved their addiction from home based gaming consoles to
personal PC's. Check any online site devoted to gaming and somewhere in the midst of the text you'll find references to multiplayer
gaming and LAN parties. Plenty of time and devotion is spent beefing up machines with the latest and greatest hardware. No amount
of money spent is to small to have the best all around high performance gaming rig. For this article I decided to take a slightly
different approach, why not concentrate on creating a kick-ass gaming case and suppliment it with hardware upgrades as they become
available. Our victim this time around is the popular Antec SX1030B SOHO File Server Case. To start off, I will be using some spare
parts from the "NEO Reborn" project.
As with all my previous articles I always set out a list of objectives and here they are in no
particular order:
- Recessed led and aluminum knob modification to a standard PCMods Rheostats Baybus. (2 x 80mm Antec Fans for rear
exhaust and 2 x 120mm Panaflo high speed fans for side intake and top panel exhaust).
- Dual custom built acrylic windows on the side and top panel using black trim and locking strap.
- Aesthetics: 2 x 12' red cold cathode tube + ultra blue iBUS fanbus.
- Custom window applique design.
- Black vinyl dye all cdrom(s) and NewQ Gold DSP units.
- Homemade self rounded IDE cables.
- Replace all stock leds with high intensity ultra clear blue and red leds.
- Black and red combination based theme.
NOTE: Proper precautions should be taken when attempting your own case mod project and as with
all warnings, you are responsible for your own actions. MODTHEBOX.COM cannot be held responsible for
any damage caused to your case or computer equipment by not following the necessary safety procedures.

The Antec Series of Performance Server cases have been extremely popular with the case modding community. Based on the
original design by Chenming, these cases have been repacked and resold by different manufacturers including Alienware,
Antec, Chieftec, Directron and Enermax. The Antec SX1030B case is a huge and well build unit, weighing close to 30 lbs and
with case dimensions measuring 20.6"(H)x8.1"(W)x18.6"(D) 522 x 205 x 473 mm. The front portion of the case has been
designed to include a nice ventilated front bezel with room to mount 2 x 80mm front intake fans. The lockable swing
door houses the external drive bays with enough room to fit 4 x 5.25" and 2 x 3.5" drives.

The case interior is extremely spacious and can handle just about any type of hardware you want to throw at it. Below
the external drive cages are two internal detachable cages for mounting your 3.5' floppy or hard drives. Toward the
top portion is Antec's stock 300w power supply and 2 stock 80mm exhaust fans. This case does not include a slide out
motherboard tray which is pretty standard on most new cases. It would have been a nice edition to an already well
designed and impressive case.
