Powder Coating is one of several painting techniques mainly used in the automotive industry and involves applying dry paint to any component surface. The powdered paint may be applied by either one of two techniques. A component is lowered into a fluidised bed of powder which may or may not be electrostatically charged or the powdered paint is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the part. The end result is a protective paint finish that is near scratch resistant and reflective. By placing a glass globe next the side panel gives you an idea who how beautiful the finish is on the new U2UFO. To compliment the U2UFO; MountainMods has also included anodized matching thumbscrews to keep the black colour theme universal.

On the MountainMods website, there is an emphasis on extreme performance and it seems that the Black Powder Coat Finish U2-UFO Aluminum Cube Computer Case continues to be designed behind this philosophy. The entire fan configuration on this case has a staggering 11 fans with four 120mm fans located on the front bezel, two 120mm fans on top, four 80mm fans and one 120mm on the rear. The strategically placed fans may be a little overkill but will provide all the air circulation required to cool any type of high-end computer configuration. Consumers looking to use all four fan mounts should seriously consider also using a fan controller to adjust the noise levels. Towards the right side portion of the case are five external 5.25" drive bays and if you look closely you'll notice that 3.5" external drive bays are absent from this configuration. The drive bay area is completely removable and simplifies the process of installing 5.25" based components.

Towards the middle portion of the case are the chrome LED placements for Power and HD as well as an oversized Power and Reset button. The buttons themselves are nickel plated Anti-vandal switches that are of high quality. The two switches and LED holders are wired from inside the case using standard 2-pin headers. The 2-pin headers are not labelled but connecting these switches to the appropriate motherboard headers should not be a problem.
