MODTHEBOX would like to thank Grant from Kingwin
for arranging this review through Canadian distributor Canada Computers.
Introduction:
A few years ago a regular standard steel based case was the norm amongst computer enthusiasts for the
simple functionality provided for installing a complete computer system. As more individuals
experimented with different computer configuration options, many realized that existing cases were
inadequate for normal day to day operation. Case manufacturers were very quick to adapt and began to
release a wide array of different styles and sizes into the consumer market. Two companies who were
quick to capitalize on the aluminum case craze were Cooler Master and Lian Li, both who focused on
making aluminum cases a large part of their core business. Kingwin was founded in 1992, started out
as a manufacturer specialized in designing and manufacturing CPU Coolers and Mobile racks. Kingwin's
main business has been designing thermal cooling and storage solutions, but recently the company has
released their first series of aluminum based consumer cases. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be
evaluating the Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case, a product which combines dazzling aesthetics in an
all-in-one premodified solution.
Specifications:
The KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case is one of three consumer based cases offered by Kingwin and is available in
three different colour options (silver, blue and black). The construction of all three models is
identical with the exception of the colour variation. Here are some specifications taken from the
Kingwin website:

The Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case was shipped in a standard double-walled corrugated box with the
case manufacturer's logos and images printed on all sides. The packaging inside the box was excellent
with the case sealed in protected plastic with 2 pieces of polystyrene located on the left and right
hand sides. A convenient plastic handle was centered through the top portion of the package to make
this unit transportable.

Out of the box the Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case is very well constructed using brushed high
ventilation Aluminum-Mg Alloy. Kingwin has marketed the KT-436BK-WM as an all-in-one pre-modified
solution with a good focus on tool-less key entry using chrome thumbscrews. The case measures
approximately 500 mm (W) x 210 mm (H) x 460 mm (L) and supports all Flex, Micro, Full ATX motherboards.
The entire exterior and interior has been anodized jet black with the main focus on a triple window
design. The front bezel is very stylish and is protected by an acrylic front plate all highlighted
with chrome accents. Included in the package were an assortment of mounting screws and accessories.
The Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case does not come equipped with a stock power supply and consumers
will be required to purchase this item separately.
